What's CD ripping and CD rippers?

CD ripping is a conversion of an audio CD into MP3 or other audio files to make them independent from CD and acceptable for music players. Ripped audio can be played, copied to memory card and burnt to MP3 disk, they don't need the original CD to be played. CD ripper is a program that rips and encodes audio CD to various audio formats. So if you need to make an MP3 copy of your audio CD or you prefer music in some other format you have to get a CD ripper.

How to rip a CD?

Use One-click CD Ripper or CD Extraction Wizard ripping software to convert your audio CD into MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, APE of FLAC music files on your computer. You just insert audio CD you want and choose whole CD or tracks you'd like to convert. All the rest is a ripper's job.

Why I can't simply copy audio CD to my computer?

So if you copy track 01, track 02 and other files you can find on CD these files will not be recognized by any software or hardware players. Ripped music can then be played or uploaded to MP3 player, iPOD or mobile phone. Original CD is not required anymore.

Simply open your CD right-clicking CD icon and pressing "Open" option. You will see a list of songs available on CD. Pick those you want to rip and right-click your selection. Choose "Convert audio CD" option and pick audio format you want to get.

Does it add audio tags into the ripped songs?

Yes, CD rippers download titles and other tag information for each CD, so you get songs properly titled and including all tag fields like artist, album, genre, year and etc.

What are audio tags and why they're needed to be downloaded from the internet?

Audio tag is a basic information about each song on CD. It includes information about artist, album name, year, genre of a song, and other data. This information usually are not available on CD, so CD ripper is looking for tags on the Internet databases (CDDB) and download them for each CD. Then it renames CD tracks to make them look as "Artist name - Song name.mp3" or any other way you like. It also adds tag to each music file so it may be used by audio players and generating playlists.

I can't catch how to run One-click CD Ripper? No icon on desktop or anywhere else...

One-click CD Ripper is an integrated ripping software. No need to run anything, just right-click your CD icon and pick "Convert audio disc" option on the menu to rip it. Or open your CD, choose audio tracks you want and right-click them to rip.
